Carrera GT Limitation No. 0203

Just when it seemed a true supercar successor to the 16-year-old, world-beating 959 was more unlikely than ever-especially after Porsche shuttered its sports racing program in 1999 and reassigned its motorsport engineers to the utilitarian Cayenne-the marque stunned visitors at the 2000 Paris Auto Show with a dramatic concept called the «Carrera GT.» Few realized that its 5.5-liter V10 engine, internally coded «Type 3512,» traced its lineage back to Porsche’s brief tenure as a Formula One engine supplier in the early 1990s.

Porsche’s racing pedigree during that era was at its zenith, with the Group C program-anchored by the legendary 956 and 962-claiming five straight World Sportscar Championships and six consecutive overall victories at Le Mans between 1982 and 1987. The factory’s 911 GT1 program extended its dominance into the late 1990s until the cancellation of the GT1 class and the rise of pure Le Mans Prototypes. At that point, Porsche engineers revived the dormant «Type 3512» V10 for an LMP900-class project, internally designated «9R3.» This mid-engined prototype showed immense promise but, like its Formula One forebear, was canceled after just a single running example. Fortunately, Porsche’s production department recognized the V10’s potential, adapting it for the road-going Carrera GT, which entered production in 2003 with a planned run of 1,500 units.

As Porsche’s halo supercar of the decade, the Carrera GT’s options list was minimal. In fact, the U.K. Price List stated that, «In order to minimise the vehicle’s weight for possible competition use, the Carrera GT is delivered as standard without air conditioning and without an audio system. However, these items, together with all other personalisation features, are available as no-cost options.»

According to its original invoice and purchase documentation from Porsche Zentrum Wuppertal this German-market example features an XT (15 mm extra width) driver side carbon fiber bucket seat and the Becker Porsche Online Pro CD Radio with Bose and manual air conditioning options added back during the ordering process. Additional no-cost options recorded for this GT Silbermetallic example include a fitted indoor car cover, factory delivery at the newly commissioned factory in Leipzig, and a luggage set in Dark Grey to match the selected interior color.

According to service invoices from Porsche Zentrum Wuppertal, this halo supercar of the 2000s was retained by the original owner until c. 2014 with approximately 17,000 kilometers. Numerous stamps in the original service book record Porsche dealer servicing during this period. At that point ownership transferred to an individual based in The Netherlands, with invoices recording services at an independent Porsche specialist in 2016, 2019, and 2022, with the latest servicing at 17,712 kilometers recorded. Most recently, a three-page invoice on file records a trip to Porsche Zentrum Stuttgart in April 2025 to perform the critical APA3 suspension recall campaign and receive a near €30.000 Major Service that included a coolant flush, new TMPS sensors, newly developed Michelin Pilot Sport Cup2 N-Spec tires, and a fresh battery among other items. It should be noted that battery replacement is not a trivial service item for a Carrera GT and quite an involved process. In keeping with the design of a supercar it is placed low, in front of the right rear wheel in a location difficult to access by anyone without specialized technical knowledge. Furthermore, while at Porsche Zentrum Stuttgart, the invoice records Carrera GT number 0203 was fitted with the highly desirable KW V5 coilover kit for €12.921,70. As a result of its excellent maintenance regimen the car is exceptionally clean-even underneath where its carbon fiber floor panels ride millimeters from the ground.

Offered with a highly collectible specification and well-preserved condition, this GT Silver Metallic Carrera GT includes its set of Dark Grey factory luggage. The five-piece Italian-made leather luggage set comprises a weekender travel bag, a beechwood-handled briefcase, a hanging suit bag, a shoulder bag, and a center console bag, all trimmed in the same Dark Grey leather as the Carrera GT’s interior. Furthermore, it is furnished with its factory-supplied fitted car cover, books, tools, centerlock socket, and roof cover bags. In addition, Carrera GT 0203 retains a number of original dealer handover and VIP items that include its aluminum order box with pewter V10 engine model, VIP boxed brochure, dealer technical and promotional sales guides, press kit, along with Selection accessories like the rare Swarovski crystal Carrera GT sculpture, sterling silver pin, calendars, books and even the congratulatory bottle of Prosecco from original delivering Porsche dealer from 2004!

Accompanied by an impressive service history, Carrera GT 0203 represents a superb example of race-bred engineering distilled for the road. Its motorsport-derived 605 PS, 5.7-liter V10 is a precision instrument, demanding both skill behind the wheel and meticulous care to preserve its high-revving character. Renowned for its analog purity and one of the most stirring exhaust notes outside a circuit, this Carrera GT offers its next caretaker the rare opportunity to experience a well serviced and upgraded example of an unrepeatable era that produced one of the finest driver’s cars ever built.
