The Porsche 914 is the result of a collaboration between Porsche and Volkswagen that began in the late 1960s. Porsche hoped to boost its sales with a more affordable alternative, but also to produce a new kind of car based on the principle of its 904 racing car. The two manufacturers agreed on a two-seater roadster with a rear-mounted mid-engine for a high-performance, innovative car. The uniquely designed car features retractable headlamps and the model’s distinctive removable roof, which fits into the rear boot compartment. It is available in 4- and 6-cylinder versions, with power ratings ranging from 80 to 110 hp. The model was a great success in the United States, but struggled to make an impact in Europe. Only 3,333 examples of the 6-cylinder 914-6 were produced, making it the most sought-after version among collectors.

Delivered new by Sonauto to a Parisian doctor on 10 May 1972, our 914 changed hands on 13 August 1992 and is therefore a 2nd hand, although it still bears its original registration number 641 YF 75. The plate of the Levallois dealership is still present on the car, and it is also accompanied by the Sonauto card in the name of the first owner, its service book and the user manuals in the original pocket. The odometer now reads 96,400 km, which, according to the service booklet, is the car’s original mileage.

This beautiful 914 benefited from a complete restoration several years ago, when it was completely dismantled to receive a new orange signal paint job, and is now in generally good condition. The interior has also been fully restored and is in very good condition.

Under the bonnet is the original 2.0-litre flat 6 engine, type 901/38, developing 110 hp. The engine and gearbox underwent a complete overhaul in 2020 at a cost of over €21,000. With its exceptional history, this car is sure to win over enthusiasts.
