Before Singer’s amazing creations, before RWB’s wide bodies, and before Techart, there was Gemballa. The Gemballas of the 1980s were radical creations with massive body kits and wild interior customization. As Gemballa moved into the 1990s they evolved into a more performance focused company with more subtle, streamlined body work. This car is the result.

Featured in the July 1995 issue of Eurosport Car magazine, the car’s history goes like this: When Gemballa opened in California they needed a vehicle to showcase what services they were going to offer. They chose this RS America. The car was flown to Germany, the modifications were done at Gemballa, and the car was returned to California.

Professionally converted into a Slantnose RSR, this 1993 RS America is the only example that has gotten a complete RSR conversion. The engine was changed from a 3.6L to a 3.8L: the result is a more aggressive and powerful 375-hp motor that makes for a thrilling driving experience. Top speed is in excess of 170 miles per hour. The car features a Slantnose front end with fixed headlights and ellipsoid halogen projector lenses. The front bumper was also changed to feature RSR carbon fiber brake ventilation ducts, and the factory rear fenders feature cooling channels for the engine. The front skirt and side skirts are a Sportster design, with the latter incorporating some more air intakes. The rear bumper is a three-piece design to allow for a dual exhaust, while a large 3.8 liter RSR spoiler with an adjustable carbon fiber center wing is also fitted. Wheels are 18-inch Speedlines with a heavy offset in the rear.
