Dating back to Porsche’s earliest turbocharged production car, the 930, turbocharged 911s were always rear-wheel drive. When paired with the 911’s unique, rear-biased weight distribution, these cars had notoriously oversteer-prone handling, leading to the infamous “widowmaker” moniker. But with the introduction of the 993 Turbo in 1995, Porsche implemented an all-wheel drive system as they moved the “Turbo” lineup more into the grand touring realm. Yet for the few enthusiasts who still craved the excitement of a rear-wheel drive turbocharged 911, Porsche made a car called the GT2. With each subsequent generation, Porsche would make a limited run of GT2s that were more like a GT3 with turbochargers than a Turbo with rear-wheel drive, making them the ultimate choice for the experienced track driver. The most extreme out of the GT2 run was the 991 GT2RS that debuted in 2017. First shown in the Xbox game Forza Motorsport 7, the GT2RS was a limited-run car with numerous bespoke carbon fiber and magnesium pieces, with a top speed of over 340 km/h.
