GT Silver Metallic Over Black, 991.2 With Weissach Package, Clubsport Package, One Owner and Showing Just 500 km

Dating back to Porsche’s earliest turbocharged production car, the 930, turbocharged 911s were always rear-wheel drive. When paired with the 911’s unique, rear-biased weight distribution, these cars had notoriously oversteer-prone handling, leading to the infamous “widowmaker” moniker. But with the introduction of the 993 Turbo in 1995, Porsche implemented an all-wheel drive system as they moved the “Turbo” lineup more into the grand touring realm. Yet for the few enthusiasts who still craved the excitement of a rear-wheel drive turbocharged 911, Porsche made a car called the GT2. With each subsequent generation, Porsche would make a limited run of GT2s that were more like a GT3 with turbochargers than a Turbo with rear-wheel drive, making them the ultimate choice for the experienced track driver. The most extreme out of the GT2 run was the 991 GT2RS that debuted in 2017. First shown in the Xbox game Forza Motorsport 7, the GT2RS was a limited-run car with numerous bespoke carbon fiber and magnesium pieces, with a top speed of over 340 km/h.

The vehicle in detail

This 2018 Porsche 911 GT2RS is equipped with the desirable Weissach package, which has been with the original owner from new and shows a mere 500 km on the odometer. Finished in GT Silver Metallic with stunning bronze Magnesium wheels, this GT2RS is about as close as you can come to a showroom fresh example, with all the right option boxes checked. The Weissach package was an exceptionally expensive option when new and reduces the car’s overall weight by 30 kg thanks to the extensive use of carbon fiber and titanium. BBS builds the bronze magnesium wheels, which were also part of the Weissach pack and feature a single lug, center lock design. Hallmarks of the GT2RS are the beautiful gloss carbon fiber hood with a body-color stripe painted down the center, and the enormous rear wing and diffuser package in the rear, which produces tremendous grip at speed.

The interior is dominated by a set of carbon-backed bucket seats, covered in black leather and Alcantara, with spots for both regular 3-point seat belts and 6-point harnesses for use on the track. These harnesses are connected to an FIA-approved roll cage behind the seats that is bolted to the chassis and is part of the “Clubsport” option package this car is equipped with. The thick-rimmed steering wheel is also wrapped in Alcantara and features red stitching and a red 12 o’clock stripe at the top of the wheel.

Powering the GT2RS is a 3.8 liter flat-6 with a pair of turbochargers that produce an astonishing 691 horsepower and 553 lb-ft of torque. Running through a 7-speed PDK gearbox, this car set an almost unbelievable 6:47.3 lap around the Nürburgring Nordschleife, equating to an average 184 km/h speed. With the optional Weissach package, the GT2RS receives carbon fiber anti-roll bars and coupling rods on both axles. The exhaust system is made from titanium, giving the car a particularly unique sound. This example has been fitted with a front-end lift system to ensure that you can use it easily without having to worry about scraping the bottom of the nose.

Porsche has hinted that future GT2s will feature electrification along with a powerful petrol engine, meaning that this 991.2 GT2RS may be the final example of the company’s genuinely raucous rear-wheel drive 911. This example is fitted with all of the crucial options and shows just over delivery miles, meaning it will be exciting to drive and a proper collectible down the road.
