The engine was completely rebuilt in 2023 with new connecting rods, and the cylinder heads were also overhauled—this work was performed by an engine specialist in Germany.
History of the Model
The Porsche 356 was manufactured by the German company Porsche from 1948 to 1965. It was the company’s first production car.
The 356 was a lightweight and agile two-door rear-wheel-drive sports car available as both a hardtop coupe and an open-top model. Throughout its production run, design innovations were continually introduced, contributing to the car’s success and popularity in motorsports. Production began in 1948 in Gmünd, Austria.
The 356 was developed by Ferdinand “Ferry” Porsche (son of Dr. Ing. Ferdinand Porsche, the company’s founder). Like its cousin, the Volkswagen Beetle (which Ferdinand Porsche Sr. had designed), the 356 was an air-cooled four-cylinder with rear-wheel drive and a monocoque chassis and body construction.
