1965 Porsche 356C Cabriolet – European Collectibles

VIN 160913 completed on August 11, 1964

European Collectibles was commissioned to perform a full Concours level restoration with no expense spared over a 20-month period, from 2015-2016. During the restoration, the 356 was completely disassembled so that every aspect could be properly addressed. The body was stripped to bare metal and metal finished. The decks, doors, bumpers, and soft-top frame were all properly fitted during the metal finishing to ensure the best possible fit. The complete driveline was rebuilt including the engine, transmission, suspension, braking system, new wire harness, and fuel system. All of the chrome was triple plated, and the components were either restored or replaced.

History

The 356C represents the final and most developed version of the model that made Porsche’s reputation on roads and racetracks throughout the 1950s. It was a far cry from the handful of basic sports cars made in a small village in postwar Austria. Porsche had grown exponentially and gained an enviable reputation all over the world for building high quality, fun, and quick sports cars. It was almost all thanks to the 356, and the 356C was a worthy send-off.
