When Porsche introduced the 911 R in 2016, fans of the brand were electrified: the concept of bringing a puristic driving machine with the performance of a GT3, leaving out all unnecessary gimmicks, was so well received that the limited series sold out immediately and by no means every interested party got a chance. As a result, prices rose immediately and even today a 911 R is not only a fascinating sports car, but also a collector's item and investment.
In the R, the 500 hp 4-litre naturally aspirated engine is paired with a crisp 6-speed manual transmission with ultra-short shift travel. The driver and front passenger are held tight by classic-looking bucket seats with the legendary Pepita pattern. To save weight, the inner door openers are designed as a classic textile loop, and a multifunction steering wheel was also deliberately omitted. The front hood and fenders made of carbon and the roof made of magnesium save more weight. Ultimately, the manual transmission is also significantly lighter than a PDK, so that the 911 R was the lightest production 911 at the time.
This guarantees an optimal power-to-weight ratio for maximum and pure driving pleasure.
