Particularly noteworthy is the rare factory-installed auxiliary temperature gauge, located on the left side of the dashboard next to the ignition switch. The sporty appearance is complemented by a period roll bar—a Halda Twinmaster—as well as two retrofitted original racing seats with Pepita center panels. The original seats are also still present.
Today, the Porsche is presented in historic white and has undergone a restoration completed several years ago. As a result, the vehicle does not appear sterile or over-restored, but rather possesses an authentic and classic overall appearance. An exciting early 911 S for historic rallies, challenging drives, and a quality-conscious collection.
The Porsche 911 S offered here is from the 1967 model year, making it one of the very earliest S models ever produced. These vehicles marked the beginning of a particularly sport-oriented model series at Porsche that left a lasting imprint on the character of the 911. Ambitious drivers recognized the 911 S’s potential for rallies, endurance events, and competitive driving early on.
This vehicle bears the very early chassis number 306027 and was originally delivered through the long-established Glöckler company in Frankfurt. Glöckler was already closely associated with motorsports at that time and fielded numerous vehicles in competitive racing. Later in its history, the Porsche spent some time in Italy and has been back in Germany for several years.
The car is powered by a 901/02 engine. When it was originally delivered, the vehicle was equipped with the engine bearing the number 961718. The original engine was replaced over the years. Currently, an engine with the number 961115 is installed.
This engine was recently completely rebuilt by a renowned German specialist shop for classic Porsche engines. The investment in the rebuild amounted to just under 80,000 euros. The current power curve shows 168 PS at a moderate 6,500 rpm. The engine thus combines the original character of the early 911 S with a technically advanced and robust foundation for future use.
The vehicle was originally delivered in the special color Lemon Yellow, color code R1012. Today, the Porsche is presented in historic white. The restoration took place several years ago. Accordingly, this is not a freshly rebuilt vehicle or one restored to like-new condition. Rather, the car possesses an authentic appeal that fits very well with its history and classic character.
Of particular interest is the vehicle’s sporty equipment. Even straight from the factory, the 911 S featured a 100-liter fuel tank. By comparison, the standard tank held only about 65 liters. This configuration underscores the car’s sporty orientation and was particularly advantageous for longer trips and events.
An exceptional and original detail is the rare auxiliary temperature gauge. It is located on the left side of the dashboard, directly next to the ignition switch, and was installed in the vehicle straight from the factory. Especially in an early 911 S, this gauge is a particularly interesting feature.
The roll bar currently installed, as well as the two original racing seats with Pepita center panels and black synthetic leather side bolsters, were retrofitted. However, due to their period-correct design, they blend extremely authentically into the overall look and underscore the sporty character of the early 911 S without appearing modern or out of place.
This Porsche 911 S combines a very early chassis number, an interesting delivery history, rare original equipment details, and an engine that was recently completely rebuilt. It is equally suited for historic rallies and demanding drives, as well as serving as a distinctive addition to a high-quality collection.
