The vehicle in detail

This Porsche 911 Turbo Cabriolet (Type 930) from the last year of production was delivered in May 1989 by the Porsche dealer Copans Motors Inc. in Pompano Beach (Florida, USA). This is a special version in which three rare and special features come together in combination.

On the one hand, the 930 Turbo was only offered as a convertible version in the model years from 1987 to 1989, which led to low production numbers anyway. Secondly, this Turbo Cabriolet was customised at the factory via the Porsche Exclusive programme as a “Flatnose” body (option code M505) with folding headlights. In addition, there are further factory bodywork options, which were usually but not necessarily combined with the “Flatnose” body version: widened side skirts on the left and right, air intake shafts on the rear wings and wheel arch vents on the front wings (see also model history).

This example also has the rare G50/50 five-speed transmission, which was fitted in the 930 model only in the last model year 1989 and is particularly sought-after today. The equipment includes further exclusive individualisations such as the original colour scheme in a special factory paint to sample with pearlescent effect (code 99V9) in white metallic (colour code 947 93) with a leather interior in dark blue (colour code 94), finished as so called “Raffleder” with white piping. The paintwork alone had an extra price of just under USD 9,000 at the time. The soft top is black with electric roof operation, which was not a matter of course at the time. The first owner (name known) in Florida kept the car until around 1994. The second owner (name known), a medical doctor in Columbia, South Carolina, drove the 930 “Flatnose” Cabriolet until the beginning of 2006. The third owner (name known) in Las Vegas, Nevada, then took over this Porsche and owned it until the end of 2008.

A comprehensive service history with numerous invoices is available for all three owners, which also prove the actual mileage up to that point. The vehicle was imported to Germany in 2009 and was registered in the Trier area. In 2010, the current German owner acquired this special Porsche 911 Turbo convertible for his collection and has only travelled around 3,000 km since then. He registered the car on the Balearic Island of Mallorca in March 2022.

In the course of the import in 2009, a mileage of 62,709 miles (approx. 100,920 km) was recorded, which was also credible on the basis of the existing workshop invoices. The speedometer/distance counter was later changed to the metric system and now shows a mileage of 104,000 km. The engine is “Matching Numbers”. This 911 Turbo is a particularly exclusive example due to the combination of the three rare features cabriolet and “Flatnose” body design as well as the five-speed gearbox, of which only around 75 vehicles were built. Added to this is the special factory paint to sample colour.

Overall, an original 1989 Porsche 911 Turbo “Flatnose” Cabriolet in factory specification like this example is probably extremely difficult to find in the market.
