This car was delivered new on September 15, 1967, by Estes-Zipper Motor to its first owner, Mr. D. Michael Milder in California. It is an original American example that was later brought to Belgium, where it underwent a complete nut-and-bolt restoration. The car is also a matching-numbers vehicle, which significantly enhances its authenticity and collectible value.
What makes this example particularly special is its “Soft Window” Targa configuration. In these early Targa versions, the rear window is made of flexible plastic and features a zipper, allowing it to be fully opened. This provides a unique driving experience that strikes a balance between a coupe and a convertible, making these first-generation Targas highly sought after by connoisseurs and collectors today.
During the restoration, the car was carefully converted to EU specifications while retaining its original character and appearance. The restoration is fully documented and was carried out with an eye for detail and accuracy.
The car comes with a comprehensive historical file, including:
Original service booklet
Original U.S. title
Complete restoration photo report and documentation
Various historical invoices from the United States
This 912 Targa Soft Window combines rarity, authentic history, and an exceptional driving experience into one unique package. A particularly attractive example for the enthusiast seeking a distinctive and properly restored classic Porsche.
