On offer is a rare and very beautiful 1968 Porsche 912—the little brother of the first 911—in its original Porsche “coffee brown” paint. First registered in July 1968; TÜV valid through March 2028. An appraisal from 2025 values the car at 75,000 euros (excluding the “foxes”). According to the appraiser, the car shows no signs of accident damage. After being reimported from the U.S., the car was completely restored and had its body cavities sealed for approximately 8,500 euros. In 2024, after about 2,400 kilometers, a thorough engine overhaul was performed for approximately 13,000 euros. The engine has therefore just been broken in. All work is documented in detail. The mile odometer was replaced with a kilometer odometer. The mileage at the time of the replacement is documented. The total mileage is 135,000 km, and virtually all moving parts have been replaced or overhauled by specialist shops over the past 15 years. New additions include a set of Fuchs rims for 2,600 euros, which were forged specifically for the F model. The original set of wheels is also included. In addition, the vehicle features a contactless 1-2-3 Ignition system and an exclusive shift-travel shortening kit from Weltmeister. Also nearly new is a Bursch stainless steel sports exhaust system. The shift travel of the 5-speed transmission (901) is now shorter and more direct.
The need to shift gears precisely with a steady hand remains. This sports car hails from an era without driver-assistance or convenience features. The original set of steel wheels and the original steering wheel are present, as is the original, longer gearshift lever. A special bonus: The car inspires joy and goodwill in many people—never envy. Children wave, and adult pedestrians give it a beaming thumbs-up. On the highway, even Porsche GT3 and Ferrari drivers will occasionally slow down to give a friendly wave to the driver of the little Porsche, who tends to stay in the right lane or the middle lane. Regardless, according to the manufacturer, the car reaches 185 kph with its 4-cylinder Porsche engine. The 912 really shows off its true, sporty qualities best on winding country roads. The lighter four-cylinder engine with 90 PS gives the 912 perfect road holding—much more stable than in 911s of the same age, because their engines are heavier, resulting in the well-known rear-heavy handling. But you wouldn’t push such a beautiful piece of engineering and historical heritage to its limits anyway. It should be noted that the car has been repainted in some areas, with minor imperfections typical of U.S. repaints. Both sets of wheels are fitted with nearly new Dunlop Sport Blu Response tires. Since this is a private sale, I must sell the vehicle with no warranty against material defects.
