People in Zuffenhausen looked back only too fondly on the early 1970s, when the 911 2.7 Carrera RS was launched at the Paris Salon in the hope of being able to sell the 500 units required for homologation. Then it became significantly more. At the 1991 Geneva Motor Show, the two magic letters were back, on the back of a plain-looking 964 rear-wheel drive. Anyone who took a closer look recognized the quite extensive differences between the RS and the normal model. Rear seats were absent, as were power windows. The glazing was kept thin and the hoods were made of aluminum. There were also reinforced brakes (front Turbo, rear Cup Carrera), standard ABS and 17-inch magnesium cup rims.
Only 1,992 examples of the 964 RS were made!
