1991 Porsche 911 Carrera Cup
To ensure the 964-generation 911 Carrera Cup—the replacement in one-make series for the 944 Turbo—was only bought new by bona fide race teams, Porsche mandated a 100,000 Deutsche Mark deposit that was only returned to customers after the car had contested six races. One of 120 built for 1991, this example was completed in Grand Prix White on 18 January. While the complete history is not known, it is believed that this car suffered accident damage during its competitive life. A February 2021 inspection report, available to view on file, by marque authority Jochen Bader notes that the chassis number has been cut out and rewelded as part of a front-end repair, while a replacement five-speed gearbox (non-Cup specification) and engine (non-Cup crankcase) were installed.
The car is finished in the livery of the Larbre Competition race team, as seen on the 964-type Carrera Cup driven by three-time Formula 1 podium finisher and 1977 24 Hours of Le Mans runner-up Jean-Pierre Jarier to victory at Magny-Cours in the French round of the 1993 Porsche Supercup season. Offered for sale in Tegernsee, this race-bred Porsche would be suited for historic race series and track driving, or a candidate for mechanical restoration.
