The first Porsche with a Targa roof was unveiled in September 1965 at the IAA as the “Porsche 911 Targa.” Unlike the “Porsche 911 Cabriolet,” which did not appear until the 1980s, it featured a rollover protection system—the so-called Targa bar—which meant that the resulting “safety cabriolet” met the stricter registration requirements of the U.S. export market, which was crucial for Porsche. 49 years later, on January 14, 2014, Porsche presented a 911 with a soft top and fixed roll bar at the Detroit Auto Show—the first such model since the Targa version of the 964 series. At the time, Porsche promoted the car with the slogan “Imagine meeting your childhood sweetheart again. And she’s become even more beautiful.” Unlike the classics, the roof section of the 991 Targa opens and closes at the push of a button. For the first time, the classic Targa concept was successfully combined with state-of-the-art roof comfort. The fully automatic roof system allows the soft top to disappear spectacularly behind the rear seats.
We regard the pre-facelift 991 model as the last of its kind and the end of a Carrera era; the naturally aspirated 6-cylinder boxer engine still draws its power from the full 3,800 cc displacement before the 991.2 fell victim to downsizing and new emissions standards, and Porsche, for the first time in the history of the 911, delivered the model series with turbocharged engines instead of naturally aspirated ones.
The 991 Targa 4S we are offering is an accident-free vehicle in its original paint from a German delivery, which was handed over to its first owner as part of a factory delivery on March 10, 2015. Connoisseurs of the model will immediately notice the car’s luxurious yet sporty character; to complement the deep black metallic paint, a black full-leather interior with extended features and 20-inch 911 Turbo wheels were ordered. The car also stands out clearly from the standard lineup of other vehicles in terms of its interior, with its many equipment details: A BOSE surround sound system, the Comfort Package (€4,748.10), and a Light Design Package, along with several exclusive options such as the illuminated stainless steel door sill guards, combine with the all-black leather interior and the fully leather-upholstered Sports Seats Plus to provide a daily dose of luxury, while the Sport Chrono Package, the Sport Design steering wheel, and the factory-fitted sports exhaust system emphasize the pure 11 Series character and turn the daily commute to the office or weekend drives into a sporty experience. Thanks to the expert care of the previous owners, the car has a flawless maintenance history. All service intervals were strictly adhered to according to the manufacturer’s specifications. An interim service, including a brake fluid change and a 111-point inspection followed by the issuance of the Porsche Approved warranty, was performed on August 23, 2025, at 13,342 km at the Porsche Zentrum 5-Seen. The drive belt was last replaced at 9,865 km. Spark plugs were last replaced during the major service in 2023 at 10,415 km. In deep black metallic with extended leather trim in the interior, a very lavish array of optional equipment, and delivered from Germany in its original paint with only 13,833 km on the odometer, this car is well on its way to becoming a valuable classic. Not least because it features the last naturally aspirated engine in this model series, this example will bring its new owner many years of enjoyment and promises significant appreciation potential. A binder full of documentation traces the entire history from the original purchase to the most recent service, while the Porsche Approved warranty, valid through August 2027, ensures worry-free driving.
