Porsche 993 Carrera 4

Porsche 993 Carrera 4

Coupé, 1994

Highlights

  • Very rare color combination
  • Only 103,000 km
  • original state

For sale is a very well-maintained Porsche 993 Carrera 4 in Aventura Green with a full leather interior in marble gray/black. It is a Swiss vehicle that was imported to Germany in 2008. The last owner bought the car in 2008 with 87,000 km and owned the car for a total of 16 years. The vehicle has a seasonal license plate and was only used for trips, so it has only been driven 16,000 km in the last 16 years.
The car is in a very well-maintained original condition, only the rear right wheel arch was painted. Otherwise the vehicle is completely original. The very beautiful marble gray interior is in almost untouched condition. Even the original Porsche Becker radio with navigation system is still there. Overall, the vehicle looks extremely harmonious. The color combination looks very elegant and is rounded off by details such as the silver brake calipers, colored Porsche coats of arms on the rims and white indicators at the front and the red taillights.

The vehicle in detail

The Porsche 993 Carrera 4 is a very dynamic sports car compared to its predecessor.
Three components make up the new Porsche all-wheel drive system:

  • the all-wheel drive via a shaft with a central tube (transaxle) and a viscous coupling between the front and rear axles;
  • a dynamic limited-slip differential for the rear axle;
  • the automatic brake differential (ABD).

If the rear axle tends to spin, the viscous coupling responds in a fraction of a second by increasing the drive torque on the front axle. Thanks to a vehicle-specific viscous characteristic map, the viscous coupling actually always allocates the ideal drive torque to the front axle and ensures driving stability under all conditions.
The dynamic rear axle locking differential is designed asymmetrically. This means that there is 25 percent locking effect between the two rear wheels when pulling (motor drive), but 40 percent when coasting. The lock therefore generates an understeering yaw moment (understeering tendency) that is almost twice as high under engine braking force as under driving force.

This creates a stabilization effect during load changes (abruptly releasing the accelerator) in curves, which keeps the vehicle more precisely on the chosen curve radius. When you accelerate, however, the all-wheel drive 911 shows the agile and cornering driving behavior that also characterizes the rear-wheel drive 911.
The vehicle can be driven extremely precisely and is incredibly fun even at higher speeds.
As a Porsche advertisement once said: “Most four wheel drive vehicles are designed to perform off the road, ours is designed to keep you on it…”
