History & Provenance:
———
– Completed at Porsche’s Stuttgart factory on December 12, 1997, this final-model-year 993 Carrera 4 Cabriolet was specially ordered in rare Paint-to-Sample Pearl White Metallic (L999) over a Black Full Leather interior and equipped with an unusually extensive assortment of Porsche Exclusive carbon-fiber and special-order interior appointments.
– According to known history provided by the consignor and a prior party familiar with the car, it was originally ordered new by a physician in San Diego, California and was subsequently transferred to his son, who relocated the Carrera 4 to Colorado. This history is consistent with the CARFAX, which begins in San Diego in April 1998 with just 24 miles and documents years of service at Porsche San Diego before the car’s relocation to Colorado in 2016.
– The Carrera 4 saw remarkably limited use throughout its early life, accumulating only 38,086 miles by May 2010. Its documented Porsche San Diego history includes brake-fluid service, oil and filter service, alignments and other maintenance. Following its relocation to Colorado, additional documented service included four-wheel alignments and a maintenance inspection.
– By January 2020, the Carrera 4 had accumulated just 39,905 miles and was offered by a high-end dealership in Scottsdale, Arizona. It subsequently passed through enthusiast/collector ownership and has continued to see exceptionally limited use.
– More recently maintained as part of a large collection, this exceptionally specified 993 currently shows just 41,390 CARFAX-reported miles. The current CARFAX reports four previous owners and 12 service-history records with no accidents or damage reported, no structural damage, no airbag deployment and no indication of an odometer rollback.
– As the final evolution of Porsche’s air-cooled 911, the 1998 993 has long occupied a special position among Porsche enthusiasts. Combining final-year production, exceptionally limited use, Carrera 4 all-wheel drive, a 6-speed manual transmission, rare Paint-to-Sample Pearl White Metallic, Black Full Leather and an extraordinary Porsche Exclusive specification, this example offers a combination of color, equipment, provenance and mileage seldom encountered in a 993 Carrera 4 Cabriolet.
