Model History
As with the 964, Porsche relies on a considerable body variety for the 993. Following the introduction of the coupé in 1993, the convertible was available in 1994, and a year later, the Targa version of the 993 even hit the market. Typical features of the 993 are the extendable rear spoiler for all Carrera models and the flat headlights. Compared to the 964, the smoother body with the wide rear not only looks significantly more modern, it also increases rigidity. A total of almost 18,000 993 convertibles were produced, and the last air-cooled Porsche 911 rolled off the assembly line in Stuttgart-Zuffenhausen in 1998.
