The vehicle in detail

Rebuilt to custom specification in 2011 and upgraded the following year by Kelly-Moss Racing at a cost of well over one-million U.S. dollars, this incredible 2001 Porsche 911 Turbo-based race car was bought by Kelly-Moss on behalf of semi-professional racing driver, Scott Tucker. Tucker’s goal was to win three SCCA Runoff class championships including the STO (Super Touring Over 3.0) category. He commissioned Kelly-Moss to create an unbeatable STO race car. Tucker would win the class two years in a row.

Fully caged and clad in a carbon-fiber body with roof-top air intake, a widened GT3R nose, and a huge rear wing, this Porsche is powered by a 3.8-litre liquid-cooled four-cam, four-valve boxer six with VarioCam that generates more than 1,000 horsepower with methanol injection. Paddle shifters control the six-speed gearbox fitted with Hollinger double-width gears and Drexler differentials. Behind the 18-inch Motegi spoked alloy wheels are water-cooled modular disc brakes with infrared temperature sensors. Teves 12-position ABS and Multimatic G-valve shock absorbers were state-of-the-art in period. Motec engine management controls the fuel and spark, and there is a manual turbo boost control. The carbon-fiber interior is fully instrumented and includes data logging and an advanced fire suppression system. A large ATL fuel cell fills the front trunk. This fearsome club racer may well be one of the most extreme Porsche 911s ever built.
