Then there is the detail that usually leaves enthusiasts speechless: a manual transmission. At a time when many Turbos were already moving towards automatics, this is the version where you truly feel “inside” it. Shifting yourself, building up the pace yourself, choosing the moment yourself. That doesn’t necessarily make it faster, but it does make it more 911. And that is precisely why this type of example is becoming increasingly difficult to find.
Its provenance is just as strong. This 996 Turbo was originally delivered in the Netherlands and comes with a birth certificate. That is nice, because it doesn’t make the story vague but verifiable: the car has a clear identity and a verifiable background.
And then perhaps most importantly for the serious buyer: this car is entirely original paint and dealer-maintained. Those are exactly the two words you are normally a bit cautious with in advertisements, but if it is true, it is worth its weight in gold. Original paint means you are looking at a car that has not been cosmetically “reinvented.” Dealer-maintained means the lineage continues: not only nice to read, but also logical if you want to build on that history later.
The result is simple. This is not a 996 Turbo you buy because you “want a Turbo for a change.” This is a 996 Turbo you buy because you understand what you have before you: a rare, complete combination of color, transmission, provenance, and originality.
