MODEL HISTORY
Introduced in 2006, the RS version of the Porsche 911 GT3 Type 997 is the most radical variant of the first 997-generation GT3. Developed by Porsche Motorsport, it features the legendary 3.6-liter naturally aspirated Mezger flat-six engine, producing 415 chevaux and capable of revving up to 8,500 tr/min, paired exclusively with a six-speed manual transmission. Compared to the standard GT3, the RS version benefits from significant weight reduction and a chassis even more performance-oriented, while its widened body and specialized aerodynamics enhance its efficiency at high speeds. Its carbon-fiber rear wing, lightweight components, and race-inspired equipment exemplify this pursuit of performance. With only 1,106 units produced between 2006 and 2009, the 997.1 GT3 RS is a rare car that today represents one of the last generations of Porsche GTs to combine the Mezger engine, a manual transmission, and a deeply analog design. A true benchmark among enthusiasts, it has become one of the most sought-after versions of the 997 generation.
