Officially presented at the Geneva Motor Show in 2006, the Porsche 997 Turbo has its convertible version appear on the same show the following year, and will be produced until 2009 in its first phase. It then embodies the ultimate evolution of the 997 in terms of versatility and performance, and is immediately recognizable by its thick rims, its side air inlets or its double exhaust outlet. The 6-speed manual transmission, less common than automatic gearboxes, is now more coveted and allows a more intimate control of the gears, thus contributing to a more engaging driving experience.
Under the hood, the 997 Turbo Cabriolet is powered by a flat-6 twin-turbo 3.6L developing 480 hp for a generous torque of 620 Nm, allowing it to shoot down 0 to 100 km/h in just 3.9 seconds for a top speed of about 310 km/h. Exceptional performance for the time, thanks in particular to the all-wheel drive that ensures extraordinary traction.
