ONE OF ONE RUF 993 4S BTR.
The only widebody BTR 993. This was a special build ordered and completed just 6 months after this 4S 993 had left the stuttgart factory. RUF worked their magic in Pfaffenhausen. Stunning black on black 4S was given the full BTR upgrade, Big single turbo engine, BTR front and rear bumpers and a big whaletail wing identical to a Turbo-S. The interior was tastefully upgraded with RUF gauges, and the RUF steering wheel. The period Nokia cellphone is still there as is the Becker radio. Wheels are of course the RUF ones and brakes are Big Red Turbo brakes.
The RUF technicians took the original 4S engine and fitted it with their single turbo BTR conversion. But it’s not just a turbo thrown on there, internally the engine received the full RUF threatment: Pistons, rods, camshafts, other cylinder heads, RUF Motronic engine management, etc. The 4wd setup was retained but the gearbox was also given RUF magic with adapted gear ratios to match the new power.
This car drives like a dream! The power delivery is just perfect as you would expect from a RUF. Having covered less than 16.000Km and always serviced on a regular basis this one it ready for it’s new owner to just get out there and drive. It’s very impressive, you get best of both worlds with this one: a comfortable cruiser at low revs and a ruthless autobahn stormer at higher revs. The RUF BTR turbocharged engine is a work of art!
