As well as winning the Maroc Classic in 2000 and competing in the London to Athens rally in 2002. Acquired by the current owner in 2017, it has since been carefully fettled and improved for road use. The work undertaken included a full repaint and repair of sills and jacking points by Porsche restoration specialists Norfolk Premier Coachworks. As well as reinstalling many original parts of the interior to make the car more comfortable as a road car. The car still features a full roll cage, period Recaro bucket seats, Schroth harnesses, Webasto heater, rebuilt 356B gearbox, disc brakes, long range fuel tank, Brantz timing equipment hidden in the glove box and more importantly a completely rebuilt, custom 1720cc engine by Porsche guru Andy Prill, producing 124bhp. The car performs superbly, starting with ease and running beautifully after much time spent getting the car set up correctly. The paintwork now presents very well and although not the original colour (it was black) it really suits the car. This rather special 356 was also the star of a seven page feature in Classic Porsche magazine in late 2019, in which more detail is revealed about the cars history as well as the more the recent work carried out, a copy of which accompanies the car. A folder of invoices including the engine work is present along with the V5, copy of the US title, historic rally vehicle ID and competition log book. Now eligible for the Mille Miglia as well as many other interesting events, this beautiful 356 eagerly awaits a new adventure, be it a Sunday morning blasts to the local classic car meet or a high profile international historic event, this little Porsche will not disappoint!
