1988 Porsche 911 Carrera 3.2-liter Cabriolet – G50

This 911 is one of the lower mile 3.2-liters that you will find with only 39,966 miles since new. The 3.2-liter engines are one of the best 911s that Porsche built! This Carrera is sporting original paint with the exception of paintwork on the front hood and has had a complete paint correction with ceramic coating. The paintwork is nearly flawless! All body VIN stickers are still in place, a clear sign that it has never been in an accident with a clean Carfax. Mechanically, she runs as good as she looks and performs flawlessly with a bulletproof 3.2-liter engine, the legendary G50 hydraulic 915 manual 5-speed gearbox, and four-wheel disc brakes. Recent service records exceed $14,000, which includes an engine-out service with new rear crankshaft seal, new G50 clutch kit, G50 cross shaft upgrade with transmission case modification and service fluid, new deck lid shocks, all new fuel lines, valve adjustment with new seals, updated Turbo tie rods, new engine sound pad, new turn signal switch, new front condenser blower motor fan, and new air conditioning condenser and dryer. A new black soft top has been installed with a new black German boot cover that was ordered from Autos international.

Options include US Emissions, Blaupunkt Charleston SQR26 AM/FM cassette radio, electric cabriolet power top, cruise control, alarm system, Fuch forged alloy wheels 6” front and 7” rear wheels with new TOYO 205/55/VR16 front and 225/50/VR16 rear tires, which were installed October of 2018. Complete with Porsche Production Specifications (CoA), owner’s manual, spare key, tool kit, jack, and updated Bosch H4 headlights.

This 911 is a very well documented Carrera over the past few years with an engine out service after a number of years in storage. 1987 to 1989 was the best of the series for the 3.2-liter Carrera’s. Impossible to replace, do not miss this amazing example of Porsche 911 history!

History
The Porsche 911 3.2-liter Carrera was built from 1984-1989. At the end of production from 1987 to 1989, the clutch was upgraded from mechanical to hydraulic operation and a new improved 915 was now called the G50 transmission with improved synchromesh. During this time the power output also saw an increase of power in 1987, going to 217 horsepower @ 5,900 rpm, 195 foot-pounds torque @ 4,800 rpm, 0-60 in 6.0 seconds, and a top speed of 150 mph!

Porsche built the “Carrera” 3.2-liter version of the 911 from 1984 through 1989. The 911 offered is a 1988. The last of the 911 with a true connection to the car Porsche introduced in 1963. It retains many of the original features of the 911 introduced in 1963 but refined to work well into the future. These were the most refined, well-tuned, and drivable of the original 911 series cars and had proper ventilation as well as modern features to make it a great grand touring car.
