This 1968 Porsche 911 ‘L’ is a handsome and tastefully upgraded example of the desirable short-wheelbase air-cooled sports car, offered from long-term ownership, and benefiting from previous restorative maintenance.

It is now powered by a naturally aspirated 2.2-litre air-cooled flat-six, which drives the rear wheels via a five-speed ‘dog-leg’ manual transmission.

This US-delivered example is understood to have been manufactured in 1967, though it was first registered in February 1968.

The odometer indicates 15.400 Kms, though this is not warranted.

EQUIPMENT AND FEATURES

As an ‘L’ model this car is number 67 of just 473 such cars built for the 1968 model year.

This 911 is finished in a refined shade of grey metallic with black ‘Porsche’ side decals, as well as white racing roundels on the bonnet and door cards, over a black leatherette trimmed interior, featuring a brushed metal dashboard trim inlay. It rides on an aftermarket set of 15-inch painted racing steel wheels, shod in Vredestein Snowtrac 3 tyres.

Equipment includes a four-spoke steering wheel, a Blaupunkt push-button radio, and push- out front and rear quarter light windows. This example has been upgraded with lowered suspension, and a twin-exit RVS racing
exhaust system. The car comes with an owner’s manual, a certificate of origin from Porsche, some inspection reports, and invoices for parts used in the restoration.
