Porche 911 2.0S SWB

On this one you have to insist on the first hand and original mileage of the car !

At the 1963 Frankfurt Motor Show, Porsche unveils its # 5 prototype called «901». But at the official launch of its new GT, Porsche must rename them 911 because Peugeot had already filed all three-digit denominations with a 0 in the middle. Until 1967, Porsche will sell more than 10,000 copies of its GT that will become a reference in the world of sports car.

El vehículo en detalle

It is this year that a range is available around the same body (coupe and targa) with the same Flat 6 with two liters of displacement but with different powers.

Slight technical modifications on the valves and the exhaust lead to a new codification of the engine which becomes of type 901/06 as of November 1966, without otherwise the power does not increase being fixed at 130 hp.

On the other hand, as planned from the start, a new, more powerful engine is fitted in the 911, which is then called 911 S. This engine, still with a displacement of 1991 cm3, sees the power rise to 160 cv Din at 6600 rpm for a torque of 179 Nm at 5200 rpm. Its codification is of type 901/02.

To reach its new power, the connecting rods are nitrided, the pistons are forged and no longer cast with an increase in the compression ratio which goes from 9.0: 1 to 9.8: 1, the valves have a larger diameter and the exhausts are modified also. The Weber carburettors are of type 40 IDS and the initial weight of the engine of 184 kg does not change that it is in 130 or 160 cv. Small detail to notice if a coveted 911 is well equipped with its engine S, the deflector behind the turbine must be of red color.

Thus, the 2.0S will develop 160 hp, the 2.0 T, 110 hp to position itself as entry-level and the 2.0 L will develop 130 hp.

Until August 1968, the 911 will remain with the famous short chassis (SWB). Porsche will then try to bring a solution to the very characteristic handling of the Porsche 911. The technicians of the factory modify their flagship model and increases the wheelbase of the 911 of 5.8 cm to go from 2,210 m to 2,268 m. If 5.8 cm seem little on paper, they are enough to significantly improve the handling of the Porsche 911, without distorting its character that is all its charm …

The proposed car is a 911 2.0S SWB delivered new in France. Very rare element, the car is a first hand displaying 83 000 kilometers of origin. This 911 was acquired new at Sonauto by a company officer as a company car, and he has kept it until today.

This car is above all a story, with its original Parisian registration. It is a car to restore, the body was repainted a few years ago, the car was born light gray.
