Porsche 924 Carrera GTR

We are very proud to present this very rare Porsche 924 GTR with chassis number BS720006.

The ultimate development of the 924 in its race trim was the 924 Carrera GTR race car, which produced 375 hp from a highly modified version of the 2.0 L I4 used in all 924s, and weighed in at 930 kg. This allowed for a 0–60 mph (97 km/h) time of 4.7 seconds and a top speed of 290 km/h In 1980, Porsche entered three 924 GTRs at the 24 hours of Le Mans, which went on to finish 6th, 12th and 13th overall. Also building a 924GTR rally race car, and two other GTRs (Miller and BF Goodrich). 17 fully assembled 924 GTRs were built, with chassis numbers 18 and 19 as spares for the private racing teams. A limited number of special series parts were produced to support the teams.

Chassis number BS720006 was Sold to Richard Loyd from GTI Engineering, Silverstone by Porsche from new and was used for 2 seasons of World Championship races

The car was driven by Richard Loyd himself together with saloon car star Andy Rouse. They entered it in the IMSA class, where it did extraordinarily well, winning the class four times out of the seven races, retiring at Monza, not being classified at the Silverstone 6-hours and then retiring at the Six hour mark at Le Mans, whilst leading the class.

• 1982 Mugello 1000 Kilometers – DNF due to accident ( pictures on file)
