This car left Porsche’s facilities in Zuffenhausen for the United States in July 1956 after being ordered by Maynard Munger Jr., specified in Aquamarine Blue with a Grey vinyl interior. Specified extras were a Blaupunkt radio with aerial antennae and a luggage rack. Also fitted to this example is a very rare V-shaped sunroof. These were offered as a factory-installed option from 1954. The designation is because they were manufactured by Golde to match the bent screen shape of early 356s. Despite the fact the 356A no longer had that recognisable windscreen, the cars could still be equipped with these optional sunroofs. The option changed in 1957, making this car among the last to carry this rare feature. While its early history is unknown, the car was exported from California to the UK in March of 2001 and put into dry storage until August of 2019. Now recommissioned, it is important to note that it does not retain its original engine, but is fitted with a 1,600 cc engine of the correct type. Presented in beautiful colours, this attractive 356 will surely turn heads wherever it goes.
