First revealed in September 1959, the dramatically updated 356 B introduced the ‘T5’ body style with raised bumpers and repositioned headlamps in addition to numerous less noticeable changes throughout the car. As before, buyers could choose between four body styles (coupe, cabriolet, roadster, and notchback coupe) and four powerplants: the standard offering 60hp, the ‘Super’ with 74hp, the ‘Super 90’ with 86hp, and the ultra-expensive, range-topping ‘Carrera 2’ with a racing derived four-cam motor offering an impressive 130hp. Each variant of the 356 B has its own special place in enthusiasts hearts, but many find the mid-range ‘Super’ to offer the sweet spot between performance and drivability.
