The 718 Boxster is equipped with a generation of four-cylinder turbo boxer engines, which are basically variants of the 3-liter turbocharged engine of the 991.2 and 992, with an aluminum block, but with two fewer cylinders.

In the case of this model, it is equipped with a 2.5 liter for the Boxster S, with power of 350 HP.

Direct injection, Variocam Plus system with variable distribution and a special coating of the steel cylinders (RSW or Rotating Single Wire system) to reduce internal friction, among other things.
