The Porsche 911 F-series is a classic car par excellence, so versatile, user-friendly, and reliable that it’s always at the forefront of many collectors’ garages. It always works, offers plenty of space, even for tall people, drives and runs perfectly, and is therefore good for many carefree and enjoyable kilometers. Unfortunately, you can’t always say that all classics are suitable for this. These advantages of the 911, along with its iconic design and especially the sound of the air-cooled engine, have ensured its popularity for many decades.
The Targa is incredibly versatile with its easy-to-remove and install targa roof. In an instant, you can transform a closed car into a roofless touring car that offers both the advantages of open-top driving and closed-top driving, as the rear window and pillars not only block the wind but also provide a roll bar for added safety. The best of both worlds, so to speak, and that’s why its popularity has risen seriously in recent years.
That being said, we hope to find an enthusiastic new owner for this beautiful 1972 Porsche 911 2.4 T Targa, equipped with the wonderful mechanical injection system which takes care for a smooth running engine. It was extensively restored in 2017-2018. Everything was carried out by Porsche specialists, and all work has been documented and photographed. Naturally, all invoices are also included. The car has a Dutch registration.
The 911 was registered in the US on February 28, 1972, and has the so-called “ölklappe” (oil flap), the familiar little flap in the right rear wing where oil is filled. It was only in production for a short time because the mistake was sometimes made to fill the fuel in there… Not so good for the engine. However, this does make the car unique and therefore sought-after among enthusiasts.
It is worth mentioning that the original crankcase halves of the engine were so corroded that there was no longer sufficient sealing. Therefore, the decision was made to replace the crankcase, and that repair was recently completed. A major undertaking, of course, because the entire engine had to be disassembled. This was carried out by the head of the classic car department at a Porsche dealership, and the invoice and the old crankcase are present. The engine is therefore fresh again and ready for years of carefree driving pleasure.
After the owner, who commissioned the restoration, had taken several wonderful trips with it, the lack of time to divide between his 911 2.2 Coupe and the Targa is becoming a bit of a challenge. Therefore, the decision was made to sell the Targa. This offers a unique opportunity to acquire a beautiful Porsche 911 2.4T Targa in Aubergine with a black interior.
