2001 Porsche Boxster S for sale!

The automotive year 1993 was largely unremarkable, with the exception of the launch of the Porsche 993, but the Detroit auto show marked the first time an entirely new model from the same brand was unveiled. When sales of the so-called “transaxle” 944 and 928 cars began to fall, the manufacturer realized it was time for something new. The car that debuted in Detroit is the first concept of what would become the 986 Boxster. A car radically different from the previous entry-level models, but historically quite in line with what a Porsche should be.

The little silver car took clear cues from historic cars like the 356 Speedster, while also showcasing a completely new design language for the brand. Three years later, the first cars rolled off the production line, and what is now one of the brand’s most important models was born.

This example is as timeless as it gets, with a silver exterior and iconic 18-inch twist wheels that in turn hide red brake calipers. Just like its concept, this 986 S is small and pretty in its proportions with soft shapes that extend continuously throughout the body. At the rear, a simple ‘Boxster S’ emblem is emblazoned above the center-mounted dual-pipe exhaust system. The interior is clearly recognizable from its 996 big brother, with a few differences, of course. The most obvious is probably that the normally five instruments in the 986 are three, with a slimmed-down and partially transparent instrument panel around them.

A detail that has remained in the model to this day. Power comes from a 3.2-liter six-cylinder engine mated to a six-speed manual transmission that distributes its 253 horsepower to the rear wheels. A very good recipe for a lightweight sports car like the Boxster S.

The car came to Sweden almost exactly on the anniversary of its production and was used very sparingly by its few users. About 57000km are given. We now have the pleasure of being a part of the history of this wonderful sports car. A fantastic driving experience in the right specification.
