After arriving in Sweden, the new owner wanted the car brought to an exceptional standard and entrusted it to MOTIKON partner Urbans Garage for a complete body restoration, while the engine and gearbox were rebuilt by 356 specialist Ottfried Krüger. During the restoration, the car was also refinished in the owner’s preferred colour: black.

Now this beautiful Porsche 356A Speedster is ready for its next lucky owner. It presents in exceptional condition, having benefited from a recent restoration. Notably, it still retains its original chrome wheels, stamped from 1958.

The Porsche 356A Speedster is one of the purest early Porsches: a lightweight, open-top sports car with a low, raked windscreen, minimal trim, simple bucket seats and a basic folding softtop. It was created for the American market after importer Max Hoffman pushed Porsche to build a cheaper, more stripped-back lightweight model, and in period it sold in the US for just $2,995. Using commonly cited year-by-year production figures, the 356A Speedster was built from late 1955 to 1958, with 100 examples in 1955, 850 in 1956, 1,416 in 1957 and 556 in 1958. 2,922 cars in total then, How many exists today is another question…
