Delivered new for the U.S. market by Max Hoffman, this 356 A Speedster was originally finished in Fjord Green. By 1966, it was acquired by engineer and Porsche enthusiast Jess Holshouser, who began preparing for competition, balancing performance upgrades with reliability for gymkhana and hill climb events.

Between 1966 and the late 1970s, the Speedster was campaigned in SCCA and Porsche Club of America gymkhanas, earning multiple top-three finishes. Holshouser then focused on hill climbs in the Pennsylvania Hillclimb Association, competing in the E-Production class. The car achieved first overall in 1973, second in 1974, fourth in 1975, second in 1976, third in 1977, and first again in 1980. It continued competing through the 1980s, including repeated Chimney Rock appearances, consistently finishing among the fastest in its class.

Since 2000, the current long-term owner has restored the car to late-1970s racing specification including the livery Holshouser used for more than two decades. The Speedster is established as a reliable, nimble, and capable competitor. Extensive original documentation accompanies the car, including Holshouser’s meticulous handwritten notes, recording every performance detail from initial preparation through numerous races.
