Upon completion Nick had successfully built a 3.0 RS with uprated power and styling – ready for the british roads. The full restoration process is all documented in the history file.
Having enjoyed the car for 5 years, the current owner purchased in 2005 and wanted to do something very special; a full FIA regulation approved 3.0 RSR using Genuine parts that would suit both road and track. The results are just fantastic!
Present with the car is an incredible selection of invoices spanning over 2 decades, FIA papers and V5 documentation.

EXTERIOR
Refinished in a period correct coat of Mexico Blue this RSR looks absolutely sensational, with the vivid blue and custom white livery it amplifies the wide hips and squat stance that make up that renowned athletic form. With no visible stone chips or scuff marks to note the car looks factory fresh with genuine RSR front and rear bumpers, rear arches and ‘tea tray’ spoiler the car looks like it’s ready to be revealed as a new entrant at Le Mans in-period.
Being FIA compliant, this extreme track toy is ready to dominate any race in its class as an Appendix K build.
INTERIOR
Focused is the word to describe upon climbing aboard this track special, nestling down into a low slung Recaro bucket seat with the familiar 5 dial arrangement in front. In line with FIA regulations a Sabelt 5 point harness and a fire extinguisher are equipped to ensure everything is appropriate for scrutineering. Overall the cabin presents in excellent condition with the seat showing no wear or fraying and dash top free from cracks or distortion.
During the restoration process the bare bone interior was giving a new lick of paint and protection from rust and corrosion, built to the same specification as the 70’s race car.
ENGINE & TRANSMISSION
This mighty RSR engine develops 350bhp at the rear wheels alongside a kerb weight of 940kg; an impressive power to weight ratio that ensured the car would dominate the race calendar during the 70’s. Drivetrain is provided by a 915 5 speed gearbox, an internally mounted oil pump for better lubrication and a limited slip differential with shorter ramp ratios. Further genuine parts were used to finish the engine build including Genuine RSR oil tank, RSR Fuel injection pump, Oil filter and Fuel pumps.
Built on the base of an original 1974 2.7 MFI, significantly this example has the correct Torsion tube reinforcements as per the original 3.0 RSR builds.
Turning the key reveals the sum of the vast mechanical upgrades, with the noise from the Genuine RSR exhaust system roaring through the cabin as the revs build to create a raucous and riveting driving machine.
WHEELS, TYRES & BRAKES
Finished in gold and chrome the Centre Lock 9 & 11 inch deep dish wheels present in excellent order and are a perfect period compliment to the alluring bodywork. The staggered wheels are wrapped in Goodyear Eagle slick tyres; ideal for track work.
Supplied with finned 4 pot brake calipers and discs found on the iconic 917, the braking system also features dual master cylinders to ensure fantastic stopping power.
