According to the previous owner, Mr. Reno originally owned the vehicle and drove the 911 sparingly until Mr. Brenner purchased the 911T as a graduation gift for earning his degree in Administration. Mr. Brenner’s ownership is documented through various invoices over three decades, from 1988 to 2017. On June 9, 2011, at 24,002 miles, Classic Import Repair, Inc. was commissioned to remove the engine and do a complete rebuild. After the engine was disassembled and inspected, the crankshaft and camshafts were determined to be in excellent condition. The cylinder heads were sent out to be inspected and new valves were installed. The pistons and cylinders were in excellent condition; the cylinders were honed, and new piston rings were installed. The updated Carrera oil-fed chain tensioners were also installed. The timing chains and rails were replaced, and the engine was assembled with new gaskets and seals. The transmission was disassembled, the stack, synchros, and bearings were inspected, and new seals and gaskets were installed. The flywheel was machined and balanced, and a new clutch assembly and shifter bushings were installed. Lastly, the brakes, electrical system, and suspension components were inspected and serviced. After all the work was completed, Mr. Brenner enjoyed the drive.
On September 18, 2018, the 911T was sold to the 3rd owner, who completed a full cosmetic restoration over several years. A paint specialist in North Dakota completely disassembled the vehicle, stripped the chassis to bare metal, prepped the body, and painted the 911 in its original factory color of Tangerine. All new components were purchased from Stoddard, Sierra Madre Collection, and Pelican Parts. Classic 9 Leather in Dearborn Heights, Michigan, did the upholstery, including the front and rear seats, door panels, rear panels, a new dash, and German carpets. A year later, in October 2019, they completed the exterior and interior.
For the mechanical work, the 911 went to air-cooled specialists Auto Edge in Mahtomedi, Minnesota, for a thorough inspection. Over $16,000 was spent on a full engine-out service, including a valve adjustment, oil and filter service, new distributor cap, rotor, ignition wires, ignition coil, and motor mounts. The engine tin was removed and sent out for powder coating, along with the suspension components. The differential side bearings, main fuel line, and clutch cable were all replaced. The alternator was sent out to be rebuilt, two new batteries were installed, and the ride height was lowered to European spec.
Additional service records document over $8,000 in mechanical and detail work performed between 2022 and 2025 by Vision Motorsports and European Collectibles. In 2023, Vision Motorsports serviced and tuned the Bosch Mechanical Fuel-Injection system by servicing and tuning the ignition distributor, setting the MFI pump mixture, synchronizing the throttle linkages and intake stacks, replacing the spark plugs and fuel filter, and repairing the throttle linkage and accelerator pedal assembly. The shifter was also rebuilt with new bushings and guides, the fuel tank was cleaned, the fuel-tank fitting screen was replaced, and a new fuel filter was installed. A compression test was consistent with readings of 159, 165, 160, 165, 165, and 168 psi across the six cylinders.
Subsequent maintenance included an oil and filter service, brake-fluid flush, tire rotation, and replacement of the engine oil-filler cap in late 2024. European Collectibles continued the sorting in 2025 with fuel-system diagnosis and timing, dwell, and fuel-mixture adjustments, plus installation of a new fuel-level sender, replacement of the three-point seat belts, new hood shocks, and repair of the driver-side door latch. Additional work also included installation of a chrome rear grille and the Porsche and 911T decklid emblems (The original black anodized grille and badges come with the car). Together, these records reflect consistent attention to the 911’s mechanical operation, safety systems, and presentation.
Mechanically, the matching 2.4-liter flat-six Mechanical Fuel Injection engine (Type 911/51) produces 130hp and runs phenomenally well, paired with a smooth-shifting manual 5-speed transmission (Type 915) and a four-wheel disc braking system. Complete with spare wheel, jack, tool kit, owner’s manual, and 38 years of service records. A rare opportunity to acquire a well-documented, one-year-only external oil-fill 911T in amazing condition!
