After the Turbo was imported to Germany in 2011 in an accident condition (according to the seller, the main damage was at the rear left and minor damage at the front right), the owner immediately commissioned Grenzlandring Motors, which specializes in air-cooled Porsches, to inspect the Porsche according to factory specifications to restore from scratch. In 2015, the 911 was given a complete repaint in the original color "L700 black uni" and a brand new Sonnenland soft top. Furthermore, new lenses were used and the windscreen was replaced with a new one. Likewise, the entire Porsche was rebuilt from US specification to DE specification. In January 2016 (when the complete restoration was completed) the paintwork was given a glass-ceramic seal. According to the seller, there are no defects on the exterior, and modifications to the body that deviate from the original condition are not objectionable.
Tires from the Continental brand, which according to the current owner are still in 95% of their new condition, together with Maxilite five-spoke rims ensure the external appearance of this turbo convertible. In the course of the complete restoration, new perforated brake discs were used on the front and rear axles. The front and rear brake pads have also been renewed. According to the seller, the chassis is in perfect condition with no obvious deficits.
Many components are also new in the interior: you sit on black full leather sports seats, the footwell carpet is spotless and the dashboard covered with new leather has no defects. Overall, the interior is in a very clean condition without any damage, the perfect condition of the leather inside the Porsche is particularly noteworthy. Features of this 911 include: central locking, power windows, air conditioning and a contemporary Blaupunkt cassette radio. The electrically operated soft top can be opened and closed without any problems.
The Porsche now displays kilometers instead of miles in the cockpit: the instruments were converted to European standards during the course of the restoration work. The read mileage of 124,300 kilometers can be partially traced through various earlier invoices and receipts, and there is also a car fax for the time in the USA. With the exception of a non-functioning Blaupunkt radio, all the instruments in the interior are fully functional.
The 3.3-liter six-cylinder boxer engine of the Porsche, which provides 286 hp, is hidden under the tailgate with the huge attached rear wing. The power is transferred to the road via the rear wheels via the so-called G-50 manual transmission, which has 5 gears. A last service took place in March 2019 with a mileage of 123,950. The fuel pump and the drive plate were recently renewed. According to the seller, the engine has been resealed and the technology has been thoroughly inspected. The current owner is not aware of any defects at the moment.
The underbody was treated with dry ice in 2016: All screws, seals, hoses, wheel bolts and wheel bearings were replaced with new parts. Some sheet metal was re-powdered and the underbody protection repaired. The entire underside of the Porsche 911 Turbo Cabriolet was then cavity and underbody sealed with Mike Sanders corrosion protection. The owner also mentions that after all the work was completed, the car was finally perfectly adjusted on the wheel load scale.
