At first glance, you’d assume this is just a regular, weathered 924. Chassis 92A0410010 is one of roughly ten test/development cars that paved the way for the 944. Its “Fahrzeugbrief” records full 944 powertrain specs with 120 kW as of July 7th, 1980, just 29 days after production on June 8th, 1980.
The next owner will have the privilege of owning an early development Versuchswagen. These are the ultimate unicorns, as virtually all were either crushed after the development process or are found in the Porsche collection.
#0010 still retains its foil-wrapped coolant reservoir (a radiant heat barrier) and uncommon options including cosmoline delete and the more powerful 63 Ah heavy-duty battery, presumably for test equipment.
#0010 will need a full restoration but benefits from being solid, per a 30-page Classic Data Report commissioned by Porsche Böblingen. It is currently in storage near Ulm. Price is “best offer”. Will assist in shipping worldwide.
