2004 Porsche 986 Boxster 2.7 Tiptronic S – Factory Lago Green Metallic over Savannah Beige – Boxster S Wheels – IMS Modified & Verified Mileage

This striking 2004 Porsche 986 Boxster 2.7 Tiptronic S, currently showing around 102,000 km, was configured from the factory in a remarkably rare and heavily optioned “Green over Tan” specification. The unique metallic paintwork features a distinct original chameleon effect, where the finish subtly transitions from a deep ocean green to a dark teal depending on the lighting and viewing angle. Complementing this distinctive exterior, the car features a series of highly desirable factory “S” sport upgrades. As a late Valmet-production model, it represents one of the final 986 facelift examples ever built.

Following a brief and tax-efficient initial German registration on May 6th, 2004, the car entered the Netherlands just 1.5 months later with only 35 delivery kilometers. Its official delivery inspection was fully stamped by Pon Porsche Center Leusden – representing the world’s oldest official Porsche importer – giving this car a seamless, lifelong Dutch history and a fully transparent, RDW (Dutch Vehicle Authority)-verified mileage history.

The vehicle in detail

Collector’s Specification (Estimated production: less than 100 worldwide)

Finished in a beautiful Lago Green Metallic (LM6W) over a Savannah Beige Extended Leather interior. According to Porsche AG production records and specialist collector data, the rarity of this “Green over Tan” configuration can be illustrated by the following figures:

  • The 2% Green Rule: Porsche production records state that 164,874 Porsche 986 Boxsters were built worldwide. Specialist analysis indicates that approximately 2% were ordered in a green hue, corresponding to approximately 3,300 cars worldwide, with the vast majority being earlier, more common green shades.
  • Limited Production Window: Production databases confirm Lago Green was only available at the very end of the 986 production cycle (2003 – 2004), with total Lago Green production estimated at just 150 – 300 cars worldwide.
  • The Contrast Rule: Official Porsche build sheet data and international Porsche Club register archives indicate that approximately 70% of these few Lago Green cars were ordered with standard black or grey leather, leaving an estimated 45 -90 cars with other interior colours, including Savannah Beige. The Lago Green / Savannah Beige combination therefore represents only a fraction of an already small group and is estimated at well below 100 worldwide.

Recent Ownership & Upkeep

In June 2024, this car was bought by a true Porsche enthusiast with a minimum 10-year ownership in mind. To ensure absolute peace of mind from day one, the car was immediately taken to renowned specialist Porsche Schmidt Oss for a comprehensive, bumper-to-bumper inspection. No expense was spared, ensuring this car is in great mechanical condition through preventative maintenance, a Tiptronic transmission flush, and a complete soft-top overhaul.

Key Maintenance Highlights:

  • Major Cooling & Drive System Service (around 81,000 km): Carried out by Official Dealer Porsche Centrum Eindhoven. This extensive preventive overhaul included a major service, a new water pump, a replacement alternator (dynamo), a new engine mount, and a complete drive belt kit. All invoices for these services are fully available.
  • IMS Bearing Modification (around 88,000 km): The factory IMS bearing was preventively modified by an independent garage. During this service, the gearbox and differential seals were also replaced, and the Tiptronic transmission was flushed and refilled with 9.8L of fresh fluid. This modification is authenticated by a stamp in the original service booklet (see photos).
  • Comprehensive Inspection & Service (around 98,000 km): Handed over to specialist Porsche Schmidt Oss for a full bumper-to-bumper inspection and service, totaling several thousand euros in preventative maintenance. This extensive work included a full Tiptronic transmission flush with a new fluid filter and pan gasket, alongside a preventive replacement of the coolant expansion tank cap. Additionally, a complete soft-top overhaul was performed, featuring readjusted tension straps and a professionally re-bonded rear window. This specialized roof work was coordinated through Porsche Schmidt Oss and executed by the highly respected upholstery specialist Manders Autobekleding in Reek (near Oss), ensuring the convertible top is fully sorted for years to come. All invoices for these services are fully available.
  • Verified Mileage (around 102,000 km): The odometer reading is officially classified as “logical” by the RDW (Dutch Vehicle Authority). A complete mileage history report dating back to 2007 is fully available (see photos).

Condition & Specifications

This uniquely specified Tiptronic roadster presents a rare opportunity for collectors and enthusiasts alike and comes in turn-key condition. Fully sorted mechanically and prepared for immediate enjoyment, the car drives, shifts, and cruises smoothly, ready to showcase its unique chameleon finish for its next chapter. Reflecting its status as an honest and original driver’s car, only some minor, age-appropriate blemishes are present.

Due to a relocation and a subsequent major home extension, our detached garage has been removed, leaving this beautiful, much-loved Porsche to be stored under a covered carport. Since this is not a suitable long-term solution, the car is reluctantly offered for sale.
