Technology & Performance. The 991.1 Carrera GTS holds a special place within the 991 generation. At the rear lies the naturally aspirated 3.8-liter six-cylinder boxer engine, which delivers 430 pk and 440 Nm thanks in part to the X51 Powerkit. This gives the GTS 30 pk more power than the Carrera S of that time. Power is transmitted to the rear wheels via the 7-speed PDK. In combination with Sport Chrono, the Carrera GTS accelerates from 0 to 100 km/h in 4.0 seconds. The top speed exceeds 300 km/h.
The GTS stands out not only for its increased engine power. Porsche combined the wide Carrera 4 body with rear-wheel drive, Sport Chrono, PTV Plus, dynamic engine mounts, a sports suspension, and the switchable sports exhaust system. In doing so, Porsche explicitly positioned the GTS between the Carrera S and the more track-oriented GT3.
It is precisely the combination of the naturally aspirated 3.8-liter six-cylinder engine, the wide body, and the specific GTS equipment that makes the 991.1 GTS so appealing. It is also the last generation of the Carrera GTS to feature a naturally aspirated engine; its successor, the 991.2 GTS, was equipped with a 3.0-liter biturbo boxer engine.
