The Porsche 993 is one of those cars that does not need a long speech. It is the final air-cooled generation of the 911, and for many Porsche people, that already says enough. It marks the end of one of the most important chapters in Porsche history: the last 911 with that classic air-cooled flat-six character, wrapped in a shape that still looks absolutely spot on today. Within the 993 family, the Targa has always been the one with a little extra personality. The large sliding glass roof completely changes the atmosphere of the car. More light, more openness, more character. You still get the real 911 feeling, but with that extra touch that makes every drive feel just a little more special.

This Porsche 993 Targa was delivered new in Germany, Porsche’s home country, through Porsche Zentrum München, MAHAG Sportwagen Zentrum GmbH, and was first registered on 06/03/1997. A final-generation air-cooled 911, delivered new where the Porsche story belongs.

The vehicle in detail

The car is finished in Arena Red Metallic, confirmed by paint code L84S on the original option sticker. It is a proper 1990s Porsche colour and it suits the 993 shape extremely well. The same option sticker also confirms interior code LC, corresponding to the Cashmere Beige and Black full leather interior. A very strong combination and a big part of what makes this Targa stand out.

Even more importantly, this example is equipped with the highly desirable manual G50/20 gearbox. And honestly, that is the gearbox you want in a 993. Air-cooled, 3.6 litre, rear-engined and manual. That is the recipe. It gives the car the involvement, the mechanical feel and the proper 911 character that make these cars so loved today.

The original option sticker is still present and confirms the factory specification. It shows country code C00 for German delivery, together with the interesting Porsche internal code 09971, generally associated with Custom Tailoring or Porsche Exclusive related factory handling.

The options are exactly what you want to see on a usable 993 Targa. It was ordered with factory lowered suspension, heated seats for both driver and passenger, Porsche sound system, 17 inch Cup Design wheels and a green tinted windscreen with top tint. Just the right options. The factory lowered suspension gives the car a sharper stance, especially on the 17 inch Cup Design wheels, while still keeping the 993 perfectly usable.

Just as importantly, this car is ready to be enjoyed. It is a proper get in and drive 993 Targa. The Targa roof works perfectly, the car sits on 4 new Michelin Pilot Sport 4 tyres and there is a strong maintenance file. The car comes with its original stamped service book, a well-supported history file, recent invoices and French registration documents.

For us, this is a very attractive 993 Targa because it brings together the right ingredients: German delivered, Arena Red Metallic, full leather interior, manual gearbox, original option sticker, desirable factory options, working Targa roof, new tyres and strong maintenance. It is elegant, usable, properly specified and genuinely enjoyable.

This is exactly the kind of 993 Targa we like. A final-generation air-cooled 911 with the right gearbox, the right colour, the right roof and the right condition.
