The vehicle in detail

Chassis No. WP0ZZZ99ZVS370859

Borrowing technology from the revolutionary 959 supercar, the 993 generation of Porsche’s venerable 911 would simultaneously mark the first 911 Turbo to feature all-wheel drive and the last with an air-cooled engine. Offering a twenty-percent improvement in torsional strength under acceleration over its rear-wheel drive predecessor thanks to the new all-wheel drive, 0-97 km/h would take just 3.2 seconds. With widened rear wheel arches and fixed “whale tail” rear wing housing the intercoolers, the 993 Turbo offered attractive, yet purposeful exterior styling. Ready to tackle any situation, Porsche would aptly describe the 993 as a car not built for just looking good but a true performance machine “built to depart for everywhere.”

From model year 1996, Porsche Exclusive offered the X50 Power Kit, better known as Werksleistungssteigerung (WLS1) which, through revised engine tuning and an additional oil cooler, raised peak output to 430 PS, aligning the Turbo’s specification with that of the contemporary 993 GT2. This particular WLS1-equipped Turbo is a French-delivery “sunroof delete” example, produced on 16 April 1997 and finished in Black over a matching Black leather interior. Beyond the coveted X50 Power Kit, it left Stuttgart with a second “X-code” option in the form of Stainless Steel Exhaust Tips (X54), joined by Racing-Style Sport Seats for driver and passenger, the “Porsche CDR 21” CD radio, and factory preparation for a Nokia 2110 mobile telephone. While the car is presently fitted with a Porsche Classic radio with navigation, the original CDR 21 head unit is included with the sale.

Ordered new to a French customer, chassis 370859 was taken under Tourist Delivery at Porsche’s Stuttgart factory on 5 May 1997, with 46 km on the odometer. First registered in New Caledonia on 15 October 1997, its initial owner was Jacques Michel Jeandot, resident in Baie des Citrons, Nouméa. The car would remain in the French Pacific territory for nearly two decades, with servicing entrusted chiefly to Porsche specialist SARL Automécanique in Nouméa, whose numerous stamps in the original service book span from 2003 through 2013. On 19 October 2007, at an indicated 50,616 km, the original instrument cluster was replaced. The replacement unit was subsequently reset from a then-current reading of 7,571 km to reflect the total accumulated mileage of approximately 58,187 km.

Relocated to mainland France in 2015 under the ownership of Vincent Hanna of La Baule, the Turbo was admitted to Centre Porsche Nantes on 18 November 2015 at 62,565 km for a combined 40,000-km service and a minor bodywork repair, with all panel work undertaken under insurance supervision using genuine Porsche parts. A subsequent Experveo appraisal in January 2016 found the car in very good overall condition, noting no anomalies. Annual regular servicing continued at FLAT56 in Saint-Nolff, Brittany, from 2017 through 2021. Acquired by the current owner in 2022, the Turbo has since been routinely maintained by Mougins Auto Sport on the Côte d’Azur.

Following a December 2022 service at 77,234 km and further attention in 2023 including a comprehensive air-conditioning overhaul, the car returned to Mougins Auto Sport in June 2025, at 78,005 km, for a major top-end engine overhaul. With the powertrain removed and the engine opened, all six exhaust valves were replaced along with their guides, complete with valve seat regrinding and leak-down testing. New piston rings, hydraulic lifters, top-end gasket set, and turbo oil lines were fitted, and both turbochargers were inspected and resealed. The work was rounded out by a new clutch disc and master cylinder, a steering rack rebuild with fresh bellows, four-wheel geometry alignment, and a full fluid service with all filters, spark plugs, and drive belts renewed. Detailed invoices on file for the June 2025 engine overhaul alone total over €18.000 including VAT.

Crafted by Porsche Exclusive, this well-documented 911 Turbo WLS1 delivers exhilarating performance wrapped in a remarkably refined package. In true Porsche fashion, it was created to be perfectly suited for everyday driving yet capable of unleashing astonishing acceleration and handling when called upon. Now showing 79,781 km at cataloging (TMU), its collectability shows no signs of waning.
