Porsche Cayman GT4 Clubsport

The vehicle in detail

In late 2015, Porsche introduced a turnkey, single-seat track-only variant of the 981 GT4 destined for private racing drivers that could only be ordered directly from Weissach and not through a Porsche dealer. It was stripped and fitted with a full FIA-approved roll cage for stiffness and safety, 70 and 100-liter FIA-approved FT3 fuel cells, a central fire extinguisher system, an integrated air jack system, and air conditioning. Porsche borrowed the lightweight front axle strut suspension and a lightweight rear suspension with transverse arms from the 911 GT3 Cup models. The PFC Racing brake system features 380-millimeter front and rear steel brake discs with single-piece six-piston front calipers and four-piston rear calipers and features twelve settings in the anti-lock braking system and an Electronic Stability System which was recalibrated for racing slick tires. Lightweight 18-inch forged wheels were paired with 25/64-18 and 27/68-18 racing slicks. The engine is the same 3.8-liter flat-six found in the street-legal GT4 but was paired to a unique racing version of Porsche’s PDK dual-clutch transmission- this iteration being a six-speed gearbox as opposed to the 7-speed found in the road-going PDK gearboxes. The Cayman GT4 Clubsport models were built to 2016 FIA specifications and were intended to qualify for a number of racing series, including the Pirelli World Challenge, the Continental Tire Sports Car Challenge, and of course, Porsche Club of America events.

This example was used as the Porsche Motorsports Press vehicle and has just 90 miles in total on the odometer. It has never been raced and has been displayed at numerous Porsche press events and press materials. It is an unrepeatable opportunity to own one of the first examples of Porsche’s venerable Cayman GT4 Clubsport models, and one that has become an icon through its numerous press appearances.
