With the facelift of the 996 GT2, Porsche presented an even more powerful version of the already extreme GT model from 2003. The GT2 combined the familiar 3.6-liter Biturbo Boxer engine with rear-wheel drive and manual transmission – a configuration that hardly exists in this form today.

The technology of the Porsche 996.2 GT2 (MK2)

The 996 GT2 MK2 delivers 483 hp and is based on the wide body of the 996 Turbo. Characteristic features include the large air intakes, the fixed rear wing and the significantly more purist design compared to the Turbo. Porsche deliberately dispensed with all-wheel drive, making the GT2 one of the most active and sophisticated 911 models of its time.

Market situation

The combination of biturbo power, manual transmission and comparatively low vehicle weight makes the 996 GT2 MK2 particularly interesting for many collectors and enthusiasts today. Many vehicles were only rarely driven and are now in private collections.
