Since the late 80’s there has been a company in southern Germany that helps people with intractable problems… People who get out of their fast Porsches and think…”I need more”. The company in question is of course Techart. Based in Leonberg, not far from Stuttgart, Techart specializes in making fast Porsches truly disconnected from reality. No model escapes the company’s nimble fingers, but the main focus has of course historically been the 911 series and since the 996 generation, the turbocharged versions have been the models that created the most headlines. Techart’s engineers have a knack for wringing unimaginable performance out of the cars and when it came to the 997 iteration, there were two models that stood head and shoulders above the competition. The company’s version of GT2… tells itself that it borders on self-injurious behavior. And this 997 Turbo.

Mistaking this Carrera white Turbo for a ‘regular’ Porsche is a hard mistake to make. The front spoiler and splitter, side skirts and rear bumper together with the wing have been replaced with Techart’s more aerodynamic variants and in this example also combined with a series of details in carbon fiber such as wing blades and air intakes on the rear fenders together with Techart’s Formula sport rims. It’s an aggressive thing to lay eyes on. A contrast is glimpsed through the window, which is revealed when you open the driver’s door. One step over the carbon fiber entry strip and you are welcomed by a full leather interior in Terracotta with continuous elements in white. Details that, like the rest of the car’s modifications, have been made by Techart. In front of the driver is a facelifted steering wheel with real paddles and a steering wheel rim in alcantara. The paddles have been programmed to the car’s Tiptronic box, which has also received Techart’s software. Together, an upgrade that is welcomed. The sports seats together with the headliner break the color palette and get black in this otherwise orange-red interior.

But neither the exterior nor the interior are the highlights here. That honor goes to the powertrain. The 3.6L six has received a larger turbo unit and together with a sports exhaust and an upgraded cooling system and software, the car delivers 620hp and 800nm to all four wheels. Numbers that carry with them a certain respect when you press the right pedal. A wonderfully unique car in wonderful condition and with binders of documentation.
