Sold new by Stevens Creek Porche of Santa Clara, California on 19 November 2001, this Boxster S in optional Basalt Black Metallic was selected with a Graphite Grey partial leather interior. As an “S” model, the car was equipped with the more powerful 250 horsepower 3.2-liter flat six mated to a six-speed manual transmission, larger 17-inch alloy wheels, and cross drilled front brake rotors with four piston calipers. The car was additionally equipped with color crest center caps, heated front seats, sports package, and a Graphite Grey power folding convertible soft top. The clean CARFAX Vehicle History Report shows that it remained with the original owner through January 2004, when it was sold with just over 13,000 miles, and remained with a series of California based Porsche enthusiasts until it was purchased by the current owner and automotive YouTuber Sam Fane from Seen Through Glass in August 2024 for an epic, well-chronicled cross-country drive.

Fane picked up his Boxster S in New York City, embarking on a once-in-a-lifetime drive across the United States, timed to arrive in Monterey, California, for Pebble Beach Car Week. With a fresh service, a replaced IMS bearing, a rear main seal, and complete detail, the car made stops in Chicago, Denver, Moab, and Joshua Tree National Park before reaching Los Angeles. From Southern California, it was up to Monterey for car week. With only minor issues needing to be addressed in Denver, Colorado, the car proved to be a faithful and fun companion, covering 5,000 thousand miles across the country.
