Jack Wahl. One of Sweden’s most famous advertising executives of all time had decided in 2005 that the then-new 997 would be a good fit for him, and decided to buy it. But the car he bought, this 997 Carrera S, was going to be perhaps one of the best-equipped cars to ever leave the assembly line. At first glance, it may be difficult to see why, but those with a trained eye will immediately see the little details. And there are a lot of little details here. The silver exterior might be Arctic Silver to most people. It’s a fairly common color, but it’s a darker shade of GT Silver. Such an early color on the 997 was a rather unusual choice. The traditional ‘lobster claw’ wheels are painted in a darker shade of Gray Metallic to contrast nicely with the car, and the yellow rear brake calipers give a hint of the PCCB brakes that the car was born with. Otherwise, the exterior gives no clues as to how unique the car really is, but it’s not until you open the door that you realize….

The interior is a symphony of carbon fiber and brown leather. The center consol is covered in carbon fiber… just like the gear selector, decor, ventilation panels, defroster panel and so much more. And what is not in carbon fiber is in leather. brown leather covers things in this interior that it is almost hard to imagine that you can dress in leather. For example, the slats in the ventilation. Most details through out have even received contrast stitching. Everywhere you look, you find little wonderful things… like the steering wheel which is specially ordered with a slightly thicker circumference. Or as the almost unnecessary exposed seams around a small speaker behind the SportChrono clock. Embossed Porsche crest in the headrests and BOSE sound of course.

Mechanically, it will be even better. The engine has been overhauled with forged pistons, IMS/RMS fixed and new clutch/flywheel. The exhaust side has been improved with a sports exhaust from Fabspeed with x-pipe design. Engine mounts, bushings and dampers have been revised and updated and the end product is without exaggeration one of the tightest 997s we have driven in a very long time. With a song that borders on GT car. An extremely well-kept and well-maintained car with a fantastic history.
