Within the 993 lineup, the Carrera S (also known as the Carrera 2S) is the version you want. Not because it is the fastest or rarest version, but because the Carrera S combines the best components. This version has the wide body of the Turbo, but with rear-wheel drive. What's more, the Carrera S is lighter than a 4S, so it's also slightly faster.
The 993 Carrera S further distinguishes itself visually with the split and painted air grille on the spoiler. The increased track width and lowered chassis give the Carrera S slightly better road holding than the regular Carrera. The Carrera S was lowered by 10 mm at the front and 20 mm at the rear. Together with the 60 mm wider body, this creates an impressive rear view. Or, to put it more bluntly: a gorgeous rear end. Original set of rims and tires still present (see photo).
Technical:
The air-cooled boxer six-cylinder engine from the Carrera S produces 286 hp and 340 Nm of torque. This allows the 993 Carrera S to sprint to 100 km/h in 5.4 seconds. The top speed is 270 km/h. That's still pretty impressive today!
The Carrera S is a rare car, partly because this version was only in production for two years. Of the 68,029 Porsche 993s built in total, only 3,714 were Carrera S models. This is one of the reasons why this is such a sought-after car. A fraction of these are manual, which makes this version even more unique.
History:
This 993 rolled off the production line in July 1997 and was first registered in Germany in 1997. This beauty has only had two owners there. The first owner owned it until 2002! The second owner had the car in her collection until 2025 and, due to the death of her husband, she is now selling part of it. Unfortunately, the Porsche sustained damage to the front right side in 2009. This was repaired by Porsche Center Würzburg. The owner was so critical that she had all parts that were even slightly damaged replaced with new original parts. It is of course unfortunate that this happened, but we cannot turn back time. All invoices for this repair and other maintenance invoices are available.
On January 21, Porsche specialist Schmidt Oss carried out a purchase inspection, which showed that the car is 100% and that the damage to the right front that occurred in the past has been repaired in a very professional manner. The 993 drives like a new car and also looks like new. At the beginning of February, the 993 will receive a glass coating at Som cardetailing.
