The vehicle in detail

This 1970 Porsche 911 S 2.2 Coupé is a highly desirable early 911, combining matching-numbers mechanicals, original colour specification and a comprehensive specialist restoration.

Chassis no. 1643 of just 1,744 Porsche 911 S examples produced for the 1970 model year, the car was discovered in Northern Italy after having been preserved in a garage for approximately twenty years, remaining complete and remarkably well conserved prior to restoration.

A thorough two-year restoration followed, carried out by a respected Porsche specialist with particular emphasis on originality, correct detailing and preservation of the car’s factory specification.

The body was completely stripped to bare metal before being refinished in its original Tangerine 018, one of the most distinctive period colours associated with early 911 production. Particular attention was paid to the accuracy of the exterior detailing, with polished aluminium trim, original tinted glass and correctly restored 6×15 forged Fuchs wheels.

The interior was carefully preserved and restored in accordance with the correct period specification, retaining the authentic character and purposeful atmosphere expected of an early 911 S.

Mechanically, the car retains its original matching-numbers Type 911/02 2,195 cc engine together with the correct Type 911/01 gearbox. Both were fully rebuilt, while the engine bay was restored to the correct factory appearance.

The suspension, steering and braking systems were likewise comprehensively overhauled, with numerous components replaced using parts conforming to original specifications, including shock absorbers, steering tie-rod ends, ball joints and bushings.

The car is accompanied by photographic documentation of the restoration, its owner’s manual, original tool kit and correct spare wheel.

With its matching-numbers engine, original Tangerine colour, correct drivetrain and documented specialist restoration, this 1970 Porsche 911 S 2.2 Coupé represents a particularly compelling opportunity for the collector seeking an authentic and highly desirable early 911 S.

Because, in the end, we never truly own these cars — we simply preserve them for the next generation.

It would be difficult to find a nicer 1970 Porsche 911 S than the example presented here, the 1643 st of only 1,744 built for the 1970 model year.. It was discovered by the previus owners complete and undamaged in a North Italian garage, where it remained for 20 years. Soon after purchase, it was completely stripped to a bare tub and rebuilt to factory specifications over a two-year period by a renowned marque specialist. The work included a high-quality repaint in the car’s original 018 tangerine, while the suspension and other components were powder-coated. The interior was in preserved condition like Porsche made in 1970, the aluminum trim was polished, and the original tinted glass was reinstalled. Mechanically, the original, matching-numbers, 2,195-cubic centimeter Type 911/02 flat-six engine and Type 911/01 transaxle were completely overhauled, and the engine compartment was detailed to its factory appearance. The 6×15 Fuchs forged alloy wheels were polished and repainted, and suspension parts, such as the shock absorbers, tie-rod ends, ball joints, and bushings, were replaced, as needed, with correct new parts.

This fine example of a highly sought-after model is supplied with its correct spare tire and wheel, tool kit, owner’s manual, and photographic file of renovation.
